The Gurudwara Association of Sadar Bazar in Gurugram on Friday decided to offer its premises to Muslim devotees to offer prayers. This step has been taken after objection to offering Namaz in public and open places. Earlier, the Gurugram administration had withdrawn permission to offer prayers at eight out of 37 designated places.

Incidentally, the move comes just a day before Gurupurab.

Gurdwara President Sherdil Singh Sidhu said, “This is the ‘Guru Ghar’, which is open to all communities without any discrimination. There should be no politics here. Now the basement is open for Muslim brothers to do ‘Jumme ki Namaz’. want to read.” Guru Singh Sabha, Sadar Bazar.

“If there is an open space, then Muslims should be allowed to offer prayers. We should not fight over such petty issues. Those who were offering prayers in the open, sought the permission of the administration and those who had problems were attacked. Should have contacted the administration before doing so.” she added.

According to an official statement from the district administration, the permission was revoked following objections from the local people and RWAs. Earlier on several occasions, residents of Gurugram complained and protested against Friday prayers at the public grounds.
