gurjar: Now, Row Over Gurjar Kings’ Nameplate In Institute | Noida News – Times of India

Greater Noida: Members of the Gurjar community on Thursday submitted a memorandum at the district magistrate’s office in Greater Noidaalleging that a poster of freedom fighter Vijay Singh Pathik had been pasted on a plate bearing the names of some rulers from the community at the Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology.
“Recently, we came to know through some photos that the nameplate has been distorted and a poster of Vijay Singh Pathik has been pasted on it. It clearly shows that someone is trying to distort the Gurjar community’s history,” said Choudhary Praveen Bhartiya, a Gurjar leader. He added that they wanted the memorandum to be sent to the Prime Minister. Umesh Chand Nigam, the deputy collector, said he had forwarded the memorandum to the PM’s office. The archaeological institute was inaugurated on March 9, 2019, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a Gurjar gallery was set up on the premises with the names of various rulers from the community. The institute has been functioning under the Archaeological Survey of India.
Sanjay Manjul, the director of the institute, said they were unaware of any poster being pasted on the nameplate. “The institute’s gallery is closed for the general public and they have not made any changes on the nameplate. It seems, the video or the image they are referring to is old,” he added.
In September last year, an controversy had erupted over a statue of the ninth-century king, Samrat Mihir Bhoj, at a college in Greater Noida’s Dadri.
