The crime thriller starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy in lead roles could not attract the audience to the theatres. The film received mixed reviews from critics and was slow at the ticket counters. Despite not having any major clash with other Bollywood films at the box office, Gumrah barely managed to earn money on its first day of release. Gumrah is the Hindi remake of the 2019 Tamil hit Thadam.

Gumrah first day box office collection

As per early estimates, Gumrah earned Rs 1.5 crore on Friday, according to Sacnilk. It had an occupancy of 11.25% in the Hindi-speaking market. The film faces competition from Nani’s Dussehra, which released last week, and Ajay Devgn’s Bhola, which is doing well at the box office. On its ninth day, Bhola earned an estimated Rs 3 crore and Dussehra collected an estimated Rs 2.25 crore. The first day collection of Gumrah can clearly be marked as a major disappointment.

Gumrah is the third Hindi adaptation of a South Indian film this year. Earlier, Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada, a remake of Telugu film Ala Vaikunthapremulu and Akshay KumarSelfie, a remake of the Malayalam film Driving License, failed to do well at the box office and ended with a total of Rs 32.20 crore and Rs 16.85 crore respectively. Neither film did well in theatres.

About Gumrah

During a murder investigation, Inspector Shivani Mathur learns that the prime suspect has a lookalike and evidence points to both. The matter becomes more complicated when the secrets related to the case are revealed. Who is the real murderer and will Shivani be able to solve the mystery of this case? Produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios, Mrunal and Aditya are seen together for the first time in Gumrah. Aditya was last seen in the Hotstar show The Night Manager, and has delivered just one hit as a lead actor (Malang) in the decade since Aashiqui 2.
