Gujarat: Two arrested in Silvassa for raping 14-year-old student | Surat News – Times of India

SURAT: Silvassa police in Diu Daman Dadra and Nagar Haveli, a Union Territory, arrested vice-principal and teacher of a school on Monday for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl student of the school.
The minor went to a relative’s place in Mumbai where she revealed the details. The issue was first reported to Child Line, a telephone helpline for children, in Mumbai and then the offence was registered with 0 number in Mumbai. It was transferred to Silvassa police station of DDDNH on Monday and a fresh FIR was registered.
Police arrested Michael Claudio Nunes, (57), vice-principal of the school and Lester Joaquin D’costa (23), a teacher in the school. The accused were booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code for gangrape, sexual assult and criminal intimidation. The accused were booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Information Technology Act as well.
The minor was first raped in April 2022 and police are investigating if the girl was raped repitatively. It is also being investigated exactly where the minor was raped.
Police seized the mobile phones of the accused and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.
The accused had threatened to kill her family due to which the minor did not reveal the crime to anyone.
