Gujarat Technological University puts off in-person exams because of case spike. Ahmedabad News – Times of India

Ahmedabad: After taking the online exam in the second half of 2020 and early 2021, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) had conducted the in-person exam in June 2021 covid GTU had also announced the in-person exam for January 2022.
However, with the recent explosion in cases over concerns about the Omicron type of virus, the university was forced to call off individual exams.

“In order to conduct online exams, we have to get students to register the tools by which they intend to take the exam. We use advanced proctoring tools for our online exams, and even That has also caught those students who indulged in unfair examination practices in our online tests,” Sheth said. In Summer 2020 Semester Exams, GTU caught some 20 students for exam malpractices using their online proctoring tool. He was banned from the exam for a year.
Sheth said, “In the next few days, after assessing the COVID situation, we will take a decision on whether to take the test online or in person. If the COVID situation continues to worsen, we will discuss the online test with our dean. Will discuss.”
