AHMEDABAD: With a sharp drop in daily coronavirus cases in Gujarat, the state government on Thursday decided to lift the night curfew in 10 out of 18 urban areas.
Apart from this, even in eight cities where night curfew will continue, coaching centers for students after class 9 can resume classes.
At present, curfew is in force in 18 cities and towns between 10 pm and 6 am.
Gujarat on Thursday reported 62 new Covid-19 cases, 534 cured and no fresh deaths.
Night curfew will remain in force in only eight major cities- Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar from July 10 to 20. Junagadh and Gandhinagar.

In eight cities where night curfew will continue, all commercial establishments including shops and beauty parlors will remain open till 9 pm. Restaurants can also remain open till 9 pm and home delivery is allowed till midnight in these areas, the release said.
Instead of the previous limit of 100, 150 persons can attend weddings, and public gardens in these eight cities can remain open until 9 p.m. Coaching classes for students from class 9 to postgraduate courses as well as competitive examinations may be conducted with 50 per cent attendance, the release said.
Public transport buses can ply in these eight cities with 75 per cent occupancy instead of the current 60 per cent, although educational institutions, spas, swimming pools and water parks will remain closed, the release said.
