An elderly couple was murdered with a sharp-edged weapon with the intention of looting in Ghatlodiya, Pash area of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. At the time of the incident, his granddaughter had gone to the market for Diwali shopping.
The Ghatlodia area of Ahmedabad comes under the assembly constituency of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. 90-year-old Dayanand Bhai and his 80-year-old wife Vijayalakshmi live in house number 11 of Paras Mani Apartment. His son Kiran lives in Adalaj, Gandhinagar.
On the day of Dhanteras, at around 6 pm on Tuesday, Kiran’s daughter Ritu had gone out for Diwali shopping in the market. During this, the robbers entered the house and stabbed the elderly couple with a knife. Dayanand was sitting on the bed in the room, while his wife was sitting on a comfortable chair. Both have been murdered by slitting their throats with a sharp weapon or a knife.

According to Army Sari, Joint Commissioner of Police, Sector 8, the senior citizen was murdered with the intention of dacoity. When son Kiran and his daughter came to know about this incident, they immediately reached the spot.
The police is treating this incident as a murder with the intention of robbery, but due to the jewelery on the body of Vijaya Lakshmi, the police still have many apprehensions in this case. Police believe that an elderly couple was murdered in a similar manner in Hebat Pura area in March 2021.
The incident has been carried out by a gang from Madhya Pradesh. Shortly before the murder, information has been received about the arrival of a food delivery boy at flat number eight. Whereas the owner of flat number eight did not give any order. Due to this, the police suspect that flat number 11 must have been calculated on the pretext of delivering food.
When the police came to know that the old couple had been murdered, an employee of the medical store had come to that house. Earlier the members of the society sent him to sign a memorandum of redevelopment, but he did not open the door.

When the police asked the medical store employee about the incident, he told that he knocked on the door of the flat at around 6 pm, but no one answered.

After this he spoke to Kiran on mobile, but she did not pick up the phone. After this, when some women opened the door and looked inside, both the husband and wife were found lying in a pool of blood. Granddaughter Ritu fainted from shock as soon as she got information about the incident.
This is not the first incident of murder of an elderly couple in Ahmedabad. Even before this, there have been many murders of elderly couple with the intention of theft and robbery. The Police Department and the Ahmedabad City Police have run several campaigns for the safety of senior citizens.
Apart from this, the police have also given a special phone number to senior citizens, so that if they need any goods or security, they can directly call the police and get help. Most of the gangs from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal etc. have been found in incidents of crime in Ahmedabad.
