Gujarat: Cop jumps into well to save 10-year-old | Vadodara News – Times of India

VADODARA: A constable of the special operations group (SOG) in Dahod turned into a saviour on Friday when he risked his own life by jumping into a well filled with water to save a minor boy who accidentally fell into it in Abhlod village of Garbada taluka of Panchmahal district.
The incident happened on Friday evening when Dahod district SOG constable Pradip Hathila was returning from Jesawada along with others after inquiring about an accused there. At Abhlod, there was commotion on the road and people were rushing towards a farm on the side of the road.
Hathila inquired about it and was told that a boy had fallen in a well there. He too rushed to the well and jumped in to rescue the boy and stayed put till the boy, Kishan Parmar who was aged around 10 to 11 years, was pulled out of the well safely using a pipe attached with a foot valve. After saving the boy, Hathila came out of the well using a rope.
The constable later said that he was not afraid while jumping down as he had entered wells earlier too.
Hathila suffered minor bruises on his hands while holding the rope when he was being pulled out but was happy that the boy was safe and unharmed. Hathila said that he was called by the Dahod superintendent of police on Saturday to appreciate his life-saving efforts.
