After consulting four different gynecologists in Vadodara, the couple eventually started treatment with IVF specialist Dr Nayna Patel in Anand. “The embryos were frozen after our biological material was fertilized. We had the first cycle in January 2021 but the pregnancy was not successful,” reminisces Haley.
Surrogate mother to fulfill his dream
While the couple was making up their mind to cycle more, Sanjay contracted COVID-19 in April. “It was the most painful time for me. I struggled to find a bed for her. In the end, we admitted her to the hospital, but she succumbed,” says the emotional Haley.
Haley, who worked as an accountant, got a job as an office assistant at her husband’s school on compassionate grounds. After school hours, she works as an insurance agent to earn extra money to collect money for her treatment.
“My uterus is not capable of sustaining the pregnancy and hence I have been advised surrogacy. I will use the money raised from selling the house for the treatment. Sanjay and I dreamed of becoming parents – I could do it to someone Even at the cost,” says Haley.
The young widow says she hopes society will support her in her choice. “This is the most important decision of my life. I know that is what Sanjay would like,” says Haley who says her husband taught her to face life with confidence.
