The in-form Gill pulled, drove and flicked Fazalhaq Farooqui to collect four boundaries in a row as Gill hit a boundary to take GT to 65 for one in six overs.

Gill was at his attacking best as he continued his onslaught and hit SRH skipper Aiden Markram for two consecutive boundaries in the seventh over and then Markande for two more boundaries in the next over.

At the end of the 10th over, GT’s score was 103 for one wicket. Gill then wreaked havoc with hammer and tongs to maintain a healthy run rate of over 10 for 14 overs.

With wickets falling at the end, Gill’s innings was stalled but eventually went about his business and brought up his century in the 19th over with a single from long-off.

Gill was eventually dismissed for 101 off 58 balls and hit 13 fours and a six during his stay at the crease, caught by Abdul Samad off Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Bhuvneshwar took five wickets to restrict Gujarat Titans to 188/9 in their 20 overs.

Invited to bat first, GT lost Wriddhiman Saha for a duck, but Gill scored a 58-ball 101 to help his team set a solid platform.

The pair of Gill and Sai Sudarshan, who put on 47 runs in 36 balls, strengthened GT’s innings by adding 147 runs for the second wicket.

For SRH, veteran seamer Bhuvneshwar finished with figures of 5/30, including a three-wicket haul in an excellent final, which was tied with GT.
