On these platforms, millions of users go live simultaneously, talk among themselves… but they are not Facebook or WhatsApp. We are talking about online games. Like Facebook, Twitter or WhatsApp, gaming platforms connecting users in digital mode do not come under the purview of IT Rules 2021 like social media intermediary.
That is, no restriction of content applies to these companies. The company does not have to keep any officer in India to hear any complaint of the user. The company does not pay any tax on the transactions that take place on the platform. Experts say that there is no separate mention of online gaming platforms in the IT rules. Companies are taking advantage of this.
