One of the accused is still absconding.
All the four accused were involved in two dacoities – one which took place in train number 2 on the intermittent night of 23/24 August. 09322 (Patna-Indore Express) comes under Orai near Sarsuki station and in second night train no. 02533 (Pushpak Express) Near Paricha Station in Jhansi.
In almost identical modus operandi in both robberies, the thieves changed the signal light by inserting a coin which caused the trains to stop. They then barged into the general compartment with some local weapons and started snatching jewelry from the passengers and fled in the dark within minutes.
As soon as they left no clue, more than a dozen GRP and RPF teams started investigating the matter with constant surveillance through technical surveillance but without any clue. About a month later, the GRP acted on a tip-off and arrested Badal, Jai Prakash and Azad, all residents of Chirgaon area of ​​Jhansi district. They were hiding under the passenger shed at Chirgaon railway station. One of his accomplice Bhan Singh is still absconding.
Police recovered two broken ‘mangal sutras’, one ear ring, two motorbikes and Rs 3,720 in cash from them.
SP (GRP) Mohammad Imran said that the accused belonged to a nomadic tribe, whose past criminal record was being verified.
