Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has incredible praise for M S Dhoni The Chennai Super Kings skipper helped guide CSK to their maiden win IPL 2023 As the Yellow Army registered their first ever points on the league table.

Dhoni’s ability to still hit the ball in the stands despite the fact that he is in his early forties impressed many former cricketers including former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif.

The former Pakistan captain was asked about his views on Dhoni, whom Nouman Niaz called a ’41-year-old youth’, Latif made an iconic compliment by describing ‘Thala’ as the greatest Indian captain ever.

Catch Behind Latif speaking on YouTube channel said, “He has scored 5000 runs in IPL alone. Dhoni has always been a golden template. His history is written in gold – for India, for world cricket. You and We can say whatever we want but it will not matter. He is easily the greatest Indian captain ever, and also a wicket-keeper batsman. There is no doubt about it.”

Dhoni is the only Indian captain to have won all three major ICC trophies including T20 World Cup in 2007, ODI World Cup in 2011 and then Champions Trophy in 2013.

While the veteran player is inching closer to his retirement, fans are loving Dhoni’s cameo and would love to see more from the CSK skipper. Latif also said that while there have been many popular names who have led the Indian team in the past, Dhoni’s legacy is on another level altogether.

He said, ‘Look how he batted. He faced just 2-3 balls and showed what he is always capable of. He is the most famous player. We have seen Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, even Virat Kohli. But Dhoni, and the way he conducts himself on the field and what he has, has a different kind of drive and intensity. Excellent,” said the former Pakistan wicketkeeper.
