The Semiconductor India program was launched in December 2021 with an investment of Rs 76,000 crore for the development of India’s semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem.

The Center has decided to welcome fresh applications for setting up semiconductor and display fabs in India from June 1 under the Revised Semiconductor India Programme.

The applications can be submitted online through the portal of India Semiconductor Mission, which is the designated nodal entity for implementing the program for the development of semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem.

The revised scheme application window for setting up of Compound Semiconductor or Silicon Photonics or Sensor Fab or Discrete Semiconductor Fab and Semiconductor ATMP or OSAT facilities is open till December 2024.

The Design Linked Incentive Scheme application window is also open till December 2024. So far 26 applications have been submitted under the DLI scheme, out of which five have been approved.

All those applying under Semiconductor Fab Scheme and Display Fab Scheme (earlier scheme) are eligible to submit applications under Revised Scheme for Semiconductor Fab and Revised Scheme for Display Fab after making appropriate changes in their proposals as per Govt. Are.

The Semiconductor India program was launched in December 2021 with an investment of Rs 76,000 crore for the development of India’s semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem. It included a number of programs aimed at attracting investment in the semiconductor and display manufacturing industries. The Union Cabinet during its meeting in September last year had approved the modification to the project.

The revised program for setting up of semiconductor and display fabs will provide financial assistance of 50 per cent of the project cost on equitable basis to applicants who are eligible and have the technology as well as the capacity to execute such highly capital and resource- demanding projects. .

The government also said it would partner with state governments to clear applications for land, semiconductor-grade water, high-quality power, logistics, and set up a research ecosystem with the necessary infrastructure to set up hi-tech clusters. will cooperate to At least two greenfield semiconductor fabs and two display fabs in the country.

The revised scheme also includes financial support of 50 per cent of the capital expenditure on a similar basis under the scheme for setting up of Compound Semiconductors or Silicon Photonics or Sensor Fab and Semiconductor ATMP or OSAT facilities in India. Additionally, the target technologies under the scheme will include discrete semiconductor fabs.

In addition, the government said that for five years, the DLI scheme would provide product design-linked incentives up to 50 per cent of qualifying expenditure and 6%-4% product deployment-linked incentives on net sales.

Support will be provided to 100 domestic semiconductor design companies for Integrated Circuit (IC), Chipset, System on Chips (SoC), System and IP core and semiconductor related design, to promote business of at least 20 such companies Could 1,500 crore over the next few years.
