Panaji: The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) will soon provide assistance to filmmakers through the National Film Development Corporation of India.NFDCTo make films depicting Indian culture and traditions.

He said that it is heartening to see a language like Dimasa, which is little known, making its debut at IFFI with the Tribal Pride Week celebrated in India from November 15 to 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the government will celebrate. Thakur said that the birthday of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda is celebrated as Tribal Pride Day. “It is great that we get a film on the tribal community in this month itself.”
He also invited filmmakers from all over the world to come to India to film their films.
“We have a film facility. 1,000 acres of land has been earmarked for a film city in Uttar Pradesh. Asia’s largest airport was recently inaugurated nearby. On one hand, Goa will compete (as a filming destination) and on the other, Uttar Pradesh will provide facilities. Uttar Pradesh is just waiting for the right people to come and invest,” Thakur said.
He said that international filmmakers had traveled for 30 hours amid the COVID pandemic to participate in IFFI 2021.
Thakur said 10,000 delegates from across the world, including filmmakers and students, participated in IFFI 2021 in a hybrid format. In total, 234 screenings were performed with a screening time of 450 h.
He said that around 30,000 hours were spent by the representatives participating online in the hybrid festival.
Further, he added that for the first time in the history of IFFI, all major OTT platforms participated in the film festival. He added that the platform will become a regular festival feature in the future.
