‘Government Will Complete Digital Resurvey In 4 Yrs’ | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

Thiruvananthapuram: State will complete digital resurvey of 1,550 villages in four phases in the next four years, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Friday.
Inaugurating the online workshop for the village, block and district panchayat presidents as part of conducting resurvey in the state, the chief minister said that the government has sanctioned Rs 339.438 crore through Rebuild Kerala Initiative ,RKI) as the first installation. Total expense of resurvey is expected to be Rs 807 crore. He said that a project implementation unit has been set up in the survey directorate for day-to-day conduct and supervision of the project.
Even though the state had initiated resurvey in 1966 itself, it could not be completed. Later, the initiative was relaunched in 1996 using technologies available then. Once again, it was discontinued because of the non-cooperation of various stakeholder departments.
The chief minister said that the present initiative is by making necessary changes after learning from past experiences. At present, digital resurvey of 89 villages have been completed, and the process is underway in 27 villages.
Vijayan said that at present, the public has to visit various offices for anything related to land, including sale or purchase or change in ownership. Once digital resurvey is completed, services of registration, revenue and survey departments will be under one software and through a single portal.
Vijayan said that the government has decided to set up people’s committees to ensure people’s involvement in the resurvey process. He urged people to keep the necessary boundaries set when resurvey officials come for resurvey process. Public should make available necessary documents relating to their land for verification by officials and ensure that boundaries of their land are properly demarcated and visible. People’s committee will have the task of ensuring such matters, Vijayan said.
Government had decided to use continuously operating reference station (CORS) technology for digital resurvey of the state. Under this, lidar and drone and electronic total station (ETS) technologies will be utilized for resurvey as per the demand of land type.
