The Health Department has transferred Pavlov Hospital Super Ganesh Prasad, a center of excellence for treatment of mental illness in Kolkata, on charges of incompetence, dereliction of duty and involvement in corruption. He has been shifted to Kochbehar Tuberculosis Hospital. Earlier the health department had cited them as reasons for misconduct. Howrah’s deputy CMOH Mrigank Molly Kar has been replaced as the new superintendent of Pavlov Hospital.
Recently there was a lot of uproar over the mismanagement of Pavlov Hospital. Due to which the health department told the hospital superintendent to show cause. It is learned that during the inspection of health department officials last May, several irregularities came to the fore in Pavlov Hospital. Health officials saw 13 patients locked in two rooms. Many of them have scars on their bodies. Proper food is not given to the patients in the hospital. The vessel in which the food is served is also impure. There is no diet committee in the hospital. It is alleged that money for food was distributed to the patients in the hospital. That part also reaches the super. There were no doctors in the hospital. Hospital interns. They do not follow the roster. He traveled to the hospital as per his wish. Year after year the patient is treated with the same prescription.
The Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, Leena Gangopadhyay, visited Pavlov Hospital on Thursday. He said that no one can be inside the hospital. Terrible situation. The biggest thing is that all the patients have been cured but the people of the house are not coming to pick them up, in that environment they are getting sick again. I have asked the hospital authorities to make arrangements to transfer all these patients. In such a situation, they can take the help of Women and Child Welfare Department.
