Google Drive users, here’s a message from Google for you – Times of India

Google Drive One of the most popular file storage and sharing services. It allows users to use Google’s cloud to store files, share files, and sync them across devices. However, like all other tech tools, Google Drive is also used at times by cybercriminals and spammers. Google on its part was working hard to prevent spam and other malware from seeping through these files. Not only this, it is also used by some people to store hate speech, sexually explicit material and violence and other things prohibited under the terms and conditions of the company. Google is now getting tough with such users.
according to a post on google workspace Update, if it identifies a file as violating the company’s terms of service or program policies, it will ban the file. “When a Google Drive file is identified as violating Google’s Terms of Service or Program Policies, it may be banned. When it is restricted, you will see a flag next to the file name.” You will no longer be able to share it, and your file will no longer be publicly accessible, even to those who have the link.”
Google Added that such users will be notified by an email. “Now, the owner of the item in Google Drive will receive an email notifying them of the action taken, and warning them how to request a review of the ban if they think it is a mistake.’ Share For items in ‘Shared Drives’, the ‘Shared Drives’ manager will be notified,” the blog states.
Google cautions its users that this drastic step is being taken to prevent misuse of its services. The company is trying to stop people who use Google Drive to host illegal content like sexually explicit content, malware, and other illegal content. This initiative is certainly a milestone to make Google Drive a secure service, but what happens if the company accidentally bans your files.
Google also mentioned on its blog that the company will implement a system for users to submit review requests if they believe a file is inadvertently restricted. Still, it’s not clear how long such a review would take.
