‘Golden opportunity for us’: Former selector predicts India vs South Africa Test scores

Amidst all the controversies and uproar, Virat Kohli-led Team India has reached South Africa to prepare for the first Test starting at Centurion from 26 December. It is the only country in which India have not won a Test yet and former wicketkeeper-batsman Saba Karim believes it is going to be a ‘golden opportunity’ for the team. He also predicted the scoreline for the much-awaited series.

Prior to this tour, India has played 7 Test series in the Rainbow Nation, out of which the hosts have won six. ended in a draw – in 2010-11; When South Africa leveled the series after MS Dhoni and his men registered an 87-run win in Durban.

Talking to Sports Tiger, Karim said that India is likely to win the series 2-0 or 2-1. “Either 2-0 or 2-1 (in Tests). We are a much better team in ODIs anyway.

The former cricketer also praised Team India’s bench strength, saying that the experienced set-up will help the team win their maiden Test series on South African soil.

“It is extremely strong (bench strength) and the proof of that was shown by him in Australia. We went on to win the fourth Test without five or six of our regular players. This shows how much power India has.

“And I expect the same this time around and it is a golden opportunity for us to have an experienced setup as well. Also, we have some potentially exciting youngsters coming into the team. It would be a perfect combination for us to do well in South Africa,” explained Karim.

All eyes will be on Virat Kohli, especially after the one-day captaincy sacking episode just ahead of the tour. Also, the focus will be on Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma, who are under scrutiny for struggling form.
