Gold, silver worth Rs 10 lakh stolen in Surat Surat News – Times of India

Surat: Thieves looted valuables worth about Rs 10 lakh after ransacking the house of a diamond artisan living in Mahidharpura, the stronghold of the city’s diamond business.
Complainant Sohil Astwala, 43, a resident of Rati Park Apartment in Lal Darwaza area, told the police that the stolen valuables were his life-long savings.
For the past one month, Astwala’s wife and two children were living with their old mother-in-law to take care of him. Astwala’s parents live on the top floor of the same building along with his brother Pinal.
Astwala went to his work at around 7 am on Wednesday and returned around 5 pm. When her mother Ramila went home to complete the housework, she found that the main door’s lock was broken. He immediately informed the family members and informed the police.
The thieves had snatched gold and silver jewelery worth Rs 9.46 lakh from the almirah. The police called the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to collect fingerprints from the spot. Police is checking the CCTV footage of the area to get clues about some suspicious activities.
