Goa vote booth spreads election awareness amid IFFI frenzy Goa News – Times of India

Panaji: Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of Panaji are making best use of 52nd post IFFINot to watch movies, but to spread Awareness Regarding the system of EVM and VVPAT machines for the upcoming state assembly elections.
Situated amidst a chain of food stalls in the Inox courtyard, ‘Goa’ voteEvery day 20-25 people come to the kiosk to inquire about voting cards and issues related to the working of the machines.
“The maximum number of visitors at the kiosk is in the age group of 30 to 40. Often these are representatives who are interested in relocating to Goa and have questions about the process of creating a new Voter ID for Goa and deleting their old one. We have received maximum queries from residents of Karnataka and Maharashtra,” said Panaji BLO Shailendra Shirodkar.
The kiosk has been set up on the instructions of Mamlatdar and Deputy Collector of North Goa under an initiative called Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation Programme, popularly known as SVEEP. This is a major program of Commission for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India.
Post the culmination of IFFI, BLOs will take this initiative to ferry ghats, market places, major bus stands and other congested areas.
Special focus will also be given on creating voter awareness among college students from the first week of December. BLO Mahajay Gad said that many of them are first time voters, so they should understand the value of their vote to bring good governance.
