Panaji: The All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday launched a nine-point ‘charge sheet‘ Against the ruling BJP government in the state for almost 10 years. TMC Accused the BJP of its inability to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, failing to protect Goa’s ecology and identity and not addressing rising unemployment in the state.
Addressing journalists at Azad Maidan, Trinamool Congress National Vice President Luizinho Faleiro said that successive governments have taken Goa backwards and did little to increase employment in the private sector and protect the interests of the local people. has done.
In the chargesheet, the TMC accused the BJP of mismanaging the state’s economy, mining sector and the Covid-19 pandemic. The chargesheet also points to “state-sponsored environmental destruction” despite public protests. The TMC blamed previous and present governments for betraying fishermen and farmers, destroying healthcare and education, and condemned the increasing crimes against women.
Former BJP MP Babul Supriyo was also present along with TMC MPs Mahua Moitra and Saugata Roy at the time of release of chargesheet. The party has already announced its decision to contest the assembly elections in Goa and its MPs and senior functionaries have reached Goa ahead of West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee’s visit to the state on Thursday.
Talking to reporters, Moitra said, “We are here for the women who cannot walk safely on the roads, for the youth who cannot get jobs.” “Goa government has been failing its people for the last 20 years, whatever the government may be. Today’s government is not the one the people of Goa gave the mandate.”
Supriyo exuded confidence that his party would do “very well” in the Goa Assembly elections to be held early next year. “Law and order in Goa has reached its peak under this government. This is the reason we are here. We feel Goa deserves better and Mamata Banerjee can do the same,” Moitra said.
He also said that it is in TMC’s DNA to give adequate representation to women in the state assembly and parliament.
