Panaji: Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTC) is resuming its regular operations interstate buses from goa Belagavihandjob Karwar And Sawantwadi from 1 august
“Initially, we are launching only those destinations which are on the periphery. We will assess the situation and decide whether to increase the buses or not. routes. If even one person is found to be Covid positive then the entire bus will have to be returned. KTC Managing Director Derek Pereira Neto said, only those presenting the antigen test results and RTPCR test done within 72 hours will be allowed to board the bus.
At present only two interstate buses are going to Karnataka and none is going to Maharashtra. A bus is running from Goa to Belagavi, which is available only at Margao, Panaji and Porvorim bus depots.
Goa to Gulbarga and Mudebihal buses currently ply from KTC Vasco Bus Stand.
“These are mainly for migrant workers employed in Goa who travel to and from the state. A KTC official of Panaji depot said, while only around 30 to 50 people are coming to Goa every day, on an average only eight to ten are coming to Goa.
Besides this, the corporation has also resumed local schedule from Panaji to Ponda, Pernem and Bicholim after a year of suspension of the route due to the pandemic.
“We used to run 45 schedules on these routes, which have been reduced to only six routes. The footfall is observed only during peak hours – morning and evening,” the official said.
