A circular issued by state education director Shailesh Sinai Jhingade said that according to InMD the heat wave will continue for one more day, due to which classes will be closed even at 12 noon on Friday.

An official said that due to the heat, classes were held in schools in Goa only till 12 noon on Thursday.

A circular issued by the State Director of Education Shailesh Sinai Zhingade said that according to the India Meteorological Department, the heatwave would continue for one more day, due to which the classes would be closed at 12 noon on Friday as well.

Due to strengthening of easterly winds, clear sky conditions and delayed sea breeze, the maximum temperature over Goa is very likely to be above normal by 4-6°C. With the continuation of these conditions, the region is likely to meet the heat wave norms on March 8 and 9, said IMD’s Goa Observatory.

“There is likely to be a gradual drop in the maximum temperature by 2-3 degree Celsius from March 11,” the IMD said.
