Goa extends COVID curfew till August 30

The Goa government has extended the ongoing COVID-induced curfew till August 30, officials said on Sunday. The curfew was first imposed on May 9 this year and has been extended several times since then.

According to the notification issued in the evening, along with the opening of auditoriums, community halls, the ban on operation of river cruises, spas, massage parlors and casinos will continue as before.

  • Casinos, auditoriums, community halls, water parks, amusement parks will remain closed.
  • River cruises are also not allowed.
  • Spas and massage parlors will also remain closed.
  • Cinema halls are allowed to function with 50% capacity.
  • Schools are closed for students. However, permission to conduct school examinations and competitive examinations will be given with the approval of the government.
  • Social/political/sports/entertainment/educational/cultural, marriage ceremonies and other gatherings, more than 50% of the venue’s capacity shall be prohibited.
  • Bars and restaurants can operate at 50 per cent capacity from 7 am to 11 pm.
  • Indoor gyms can open at 50 per cent capacity.
  • Sports complexes (indoor or outdoor) will remain open without spectators.

Interstate movement is prohibited except that –

  • Those carrying a COVID negative test report (only RT-PCR test will be accepted in case of a person coming from Kerala) for the test done maximum 72 hours before entering Goa.
  • Persons entering Goa for medical emergency on production of evidence.
  • Two drivers and one helper per goods vehicle. However, the police or other authorities will have to scan such persons with thermal guns to see if they show any symptoms and if they do display any symptoms, the police or other authorities shall have access to such persons within Goa. should be denied.

Persons who are fully vaccinated and do not have symptoms can also enter Goa –

  • Work force, i.e. persons who enter Goa for the purpose of working in industries, labor force, construction etc.
  • Persons entering the State of Goa for the purpose of business and employment.
  • Residents of Goa, who are now stranded outside Goa due to pandemic related or other such issues.
  • Residents of Goa, who have to travel outside Goa due to their work requirements / medical reasons and return to the state after a few days.

Meanwhile, according to the health department, Goa recorded 76 new COVID-19 cases and zero deaths on Sunday, while 91 patients were cured.
