Goa Election 2022: Amit Palekar Of Bhandari Community Is AAP’s CM Candidate

Goa Election 2022: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced Amit Palekar of Bhandari community as AAP’s chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections 2022.

Palekar, a lawyer-turned-politician, belongs to the Bhandari community which accounts for about 35 per cent of Goa’s population.

Announcing that, Arvind Kejriwal said that AAP wants to give a face to the state that takes people of every religion and class with them.

Before revealing Goa, Kejriwal said, “As of now Bhandari community is part of a larger society in Goa. In 60 years from this society, only once in two-and-a-half years, we have become CM. That’s why we thought about it.” CM’s face for you

On the allegation of doing politics on the basis of caste, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal refuted the claims and said that “people of Bhandari community have shed their blood and sweat in the development of Goa”.

AAP is contesting the Goa state elections alone. AAP has so far announced 30 candidates for the 40-member Goa Legislative Assembly.

Lincoln Vaz (Margo), Nonu Naik (Priol), Gabriel Fernandes (Kurchoram), Raul Perera (Qupem) and Manoj Ghadi Amonkar (Sanquelim) were some of the prominent names in the AAP’s candidate list.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal recently showcased AAP’s 13-point agenda for the development of the state when the party came to power.

AAP’s election manifesto highlighted free electricity up to 300 units, resumption of mining activities within six months, jobs for all and allowances for the unemployed.

After coming to power, AAP promised free education, free water supply, uninterrupted power supply, free medical services to all. Along with this, it has also been announced to give an allowance of Rs 1,000 per month to every woman above the age of 18 years.
