The note said, “The MMDR Act was amended in 2015 and a provision for auction of leases was inserted in the amended Act after the expiry of the mining leases. Hence proper implementation of the statutory provisions to generate revenue for the State Government and The need to do scientific and sustainable mining is felt.
The state government had renewed 88 pattas for the second renewal. However, the renewal of those 88 pattas was quashed by the Supreme Court. A review petition was filed by the state government, but it was rejected.
The state government has signed an MoU with Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited for mapping of mineral resources in the state and identification of potential mining sites.
According to the assurance given by the Chief Minister in his budget speech to the establishment of the Corporation for carrying out mining operations in a systematic scientific and ecologically sustainable manner for 2021-22 and for the matter connected therewith or connected with it, a proposal has been transferred to the Govt. had gone.
