Goa: Below normal rainfall in last 20 days, says IMD. Goa News – Times of India

Panaji: Rain Activity in Goa has been below Simple As per the observations of the India Meteorological Department, the prices for the last 20 days (IMDThis is the lowest state average cumulative rainfall of the season so far.
IMD scientist Rahul M said, “The state’s average cumulative rainfall this season has been only 1% above normal as compared to last year, which was 24% above normal.”
Goa experienced a prolonged weak monsoon or break-like condition since July 24 due to the absence of monsoon enhancing systems like offshore trough and circulation.
Meteorologist MR Ramesh Kumar said that the monsoon trough over Goa has weakened due to the northward moving of the average position, absence of offshore trough off the west coast of India from Kerala to Maharashtra and absence of any convective system. So far as a depression or deep depression, in the Arabian Sea or the Bay of Bengal.
Presently, there is a circulation over Central Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast. The system is likely to move in a west-northwest direction, which is likely to make Goa experience relatively more rainfall activity in the coming days.
On August 17 and 18, one or two places with heavy rainfall of more than 6 cm in 24 hours are very likely to occur over Goa.
