GMDA: Old Dell Road-Shankar Chowk widening: GMDA sets March 31 deadline. Gurgaon News – Times of India

GURUGRAM: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has extended the deadline for completion of the road widening project on the 2 km long stretch between Old Delhi Road and Shankar Chowk Last year from December 31 to March 31.
About 30% of the project is still pending, the last portion towards Old Delhi Road is stuck due to encroachment near Dundahera village. “The deadline for the project has been pushed to March 31. There is some encroachment on the last part of the stretch near Dundahera village. After removal, work can start there. The matter was in court, hence the delay,” said a senior GMDA official, who did not wish to be named.
The official said that most of the work has been completed, but the repair of the last 100-150 meters of the road and the construction of the drain in the encroached part is yet to be done. “We have completed the demarcation of the encroached part. After the demolition operation, work can start there,” the official said.
A joint team including GMDA and Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran ,HSVP) The officials will complete the demolition drive within a month. “About 30% work is left on the project, but we should be able to meet the March 31 deadline,” said the official quoted above.
A high footfall is seen in the 2 km long section to be widened as a part of the Rs 8 crore project. It serves as a link between NH8 and Old Delhi Road and has several hotels, offices and commercial spaces in its vicinity.
GMDA started work on the project in January 2019 with an initial deadline of six months. However, the project was repeatedly delayed lockdown Following labor shortages, repeated restrictions on construction in light of high pollution levels in the area, complications in relocation of utilities and encroachments amid the coronavirus pandemic.
