Guwahati: Congress requested on thursday state election commission to conduct elections Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), which is being run without any delay for the last three years without elected representatives.
“GMC is a constitutionally affiliated body for local self-government. Various bodies of State Government viz. GDDThe housing and urban development department and even the state election commissioners are not paying the necessary attention to conduct the elections and thus citizens are being deprived of the service of the GMC in a proper manner,” said the Congress leader and former GMC mayor.
