Global PC market registers 9.3% growth in Q3 2021: Report – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The global PC shipment market is witnessing strong growth for the sixth consecutive YoY growth in Q3 2021, according to Counterpoint. The market saw a total shipment of 84.3 million units despite existing component shortages and other supply constraints. However, 9.3% YoY growth during the quarter dampened PC shipment momentum after four consecutive quarters of double-digit YoY growth since Q3 2020.
According to the report, in the third quarter of 2021, the global PC supply chain was disrupted due to a lack of components related to power management ICs, radio frequencies, audio codecs and others. “We believe that there is no solution to this demand-supply mismatch until mid-2022,” the report said.

The report also states that Chromebook What proved to be the biggest hurdle during the quarter, as both government and education orders largely met in the first half, apart from the increasing availability of COVID-19 vaccines and the reopening of offices and schools around the world. The research firm also believes that the demand for Chromebooks will decrease this year.
