Girl Locates Her Stolen Ola S1 Electric Scooter Using GPS Technology, Here’s How

Ola S1 electric scooter remains in the news for one reason or the other. This time, it’s here for a good one. Anjali Pal, a resident of Jodhpur, fell into the trap of a fraudulent packer and mover company while she was taking her scooter to Dehradun. The thieves were taking her electric scooter to another place, which Anjali was not aware of. When Anjali realized that it didn’t look right, she complained about the incident by filing an FIR at a local police station. She didn’t stop here. Anjali took it to Twitter and requested Ola to track her scooter. Further, he sent emails to all the email IDs of the scooter manufacturer.

Ola Electric started tracking the real-time location of the scooters and continues to share it with the police. As a result, the police department was able to trace the scooter and bring Anjali into its possession a month later. After getting the scooter back, he took to Twitter to thank the police department and the people of Ola Electric. While Anjali’s intelligence of getting the GPS location of the scooter from Ola Electric and sharing them with the police helped her, it went against the intentions of the thieves, who failed to understand technology.

This incident makes it easy to understand the importance of GPS, as it continuously transmits real-time location coordinates to Ola Electric’s servers. And, while all this was happening, the thieves weren’t even aware of the background activity the GPS was doing. Notably, all variants of the Ola S1 electric scooter are equipped with the technology. In fact, many new-age vehicles come with factory-fitted GPS, as it helps in navigation, geo-fencing and many other exercises. Also, in such cases owners can always ask their vehicle manufacturer or GPS service provider for the location coordinates of their vehicles.
