Girl gang-raped after forcibly drinking alcohol in Gujarat, 4 arrested

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped after she was forced to drink country liquor on the outskirts of Bhuj city in Gujarat’s Kutch district. The police gave this information on Sunday.

Kutch West Superintendent of Police Saurabh Singh said that four persons have been arrested in connection with the crime that took place in a field at the foot of a hill in Bhujia area on March 16.

He said that the juvenile victim was found lying unconscious and was rushed to the hospital by the nearby people.

The SP said, “She had gone to the farm with a friend, where the accused made her drink liquor and drank it himself, after which they gang-raped her. Based on her complaint, four people were arrested.”

“The victim remembers that a man had raped her, after which she fainted under the influence of alcohol. The other man has confessed to raping her. Investigation is on to find out whether Did the other two accused also rape her while she was unconscious?” Mr Singh added.

He said that the Bhuj B Division police have charged the four accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

Another officer involved in the investigation said that more than one person had raped the woman and the medical report of the victim is awaited to ascertain whether the other two accused also raped her.

They identified the accused as Hussain Kakal (35), Rahul Sathwara (19), Valji Wadhiara (24) and Mahesh Maheshwari (20), all of whom were remanded to 10-day police custody.
