Gaspard Uliel, popular French actor and ‘Moon Night’ star dies at 37 after skiing accidentGas

New Delhi: Popular French actor Gaspard Ulil died on January 19 after a ski accident in the French Alps on Wednesday, according to AFP news agency. He was 37 years old.

The Cesar-winning actor was skiing in the Savoie area when he collided with another skier at a crossroads between two slopes on Tuesday and suffered a severe brain stroke, according to a report in Variety.com. He was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Grenoble. According to AFP, local authorities have started an investigation into the accident.

The ‘It’s Only the End of the World’ star was one of the most famous actors in the French film industry. He worked with critically acclaimed filmmakers in Europe and abroad. The actor was also a part of Marvel’s upcoming ‘Moon Knight’ series.

As Variety.com reports, Yuliel gave a powerful performance in Bertrand Bonello’s “Saint Laurent” as famed French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, who competed at Cannes. Uliel, who was highly selective about the roles she chose, also starred in Xavier Dolan’s “It’s Only the End of the World” alongside Marion Cotillard, Lee Seydoux and Vincent Cassel; “A Very Long Engagement” by Jean-Pierre Jeanette; As well as Bertrand Tavernier’s “La Princesse de Montpensier.” All three films also competed at Cannes.

The talented actor, known for his elegant and friendly demeanor, won “A Very Long Engagement” in 2005 and “It’s Only the End of the World” in 2017.
