Prayagraj: Three members of an interstate gang involved in drug peddling were arrested by the Pratapgarh police on Thursday. About 1.31 quintal ganja worth lakhs of rupees, one SUV, three mobile sets and Rs 3,000 cash was seized from their possession.
The arrested drug peddlers, Hitendra Singh alias Sunny, Shubham Patel and Neeraj Singh, are residents of Leelapur (Pratapgarh), Karchana (Prayagraj) and Etawah, respectively.
A joint team of crime branch and Dilippur police, acting upon a specific tip off, intercepted a SUV with fake registration and seized the illegal drug consignment. The drug consignment was being brought from Raipur, Chhattishgarh and was to be taken to Jaunpur for delivery, police said.
The gang used to carry drug consignments in SUVs with fake registration numbers to dodge the police.
Police are now looking for Ajeet Mishra, the kingpin of the gang. tnn
