Four youths allegedly gang-raped two minor sisters in Haryana’s Sonepat and then forced them to drink insecticide. The incident came to light after the police conducted a postmortem after the sisters died during treatment at a Delhi hospital.
According to Haryana Police, two minor girls were admitted to a hospital in Delhi, where they died during treatment.
“The family members of the victims had informed us that the girls were admitted to a Delhi hospital after being bitten by a snake. Our team visited the hospital to check the facts. The doctors of the hospital told us that the girls did not die due to snake bite but due to insecticide-poison.
“We have sent the bodies for postmortem. Seeing the dead body, it appeared that the girls had been tortured and possibly gang-raped. The postmortem report cleared our doubts,” the official said.
The officer further told the media that he took the parents of the victims into confidence and assured them that appropriate action would be taken against the perpetrators.
“The mother of two minors told us, four youths from Bihar gang-raped their daughter and threatened dire consequences if she reported the incident,” the official said.
The mother of the minors told the media, ‘After losing my two daughters, fearing for my son’s life, I had not filed a complaint earlier. But now I want justice for both my daughters.
The mother of the deceased minor said, “My daughters were abducted from their rooms and gang-raped by four youths from Bihar, who lived in our neighborhood and were working as laborers here.”
Sonipat police said, “The mother of the victims has named four youths identified in the FIR as Arun Kumar, Phoolchand, Dukhan Pandit and Ram Suhag. We have registered a case under the POCSO Act and several other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).”
Haryana Police is conducting raids at several places in Sonipat and neighboring Delhi to nab the criminals. A senior official told the media that a team has also been sent to Bihar to arrest the four accused.
