Vadodara: Heavy rains and tight police security did not dampen the enthusiasm of thousands of devotees who turned up to pay obeisance to the deity. Ganesha Goodbye to the city on Sunday evening.
The immersion procession began at noon on the last day of the 10th day. Ganesh Utsav.
Soon the streets of the old city began to throng the streets of devotees, who faced the rain and ignored the inconvenience to see the colorful floats.
Police personnel were deployed in every nook and corner of the city to ensure that the devotees adhere to the prescribed COVID-19 guidelines.
Along with physical surveillance, processions in the old city area were also monitored by several drones. Though devotees were seen dancing to DJ music and playing ‘Garba’, this time the festivities were much less as compared to previous years.
Many Ganesh pandal organizers preferred to immerse idols in their areas, while hundreds turned to the artificial pond at Navlakhi ground.
Police said that no untoward incident was reported during the immersion procession.
