Sunny Deol, Amisha Patel to come back together for Gadar 2
Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel will return to the big screen after 20 years together in the sequel to ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, the highest-grossing blockbuster released in 2001, going head-to-head with another modern classic, Ashutosh. – Was in front. The 64-year-old actor shared the news on social media saying that the sequel will hit the theaters in 2022.
Deol wrote, “After two decades the wait is finally over! On the auspicious day of Dussehra, presenting the motion poster of #Gadar2. The story continues.” Ameesha also shared the poster.
Deol will once again work with filmmaker Anil Sharma and actor Ameesha Patel for the new film. ‘Gadar 2’ also brings together director Anil Sharma and original distributor Zee Studios. The film stars Sharma’s son, actor Utkarsh Sharma, who appeared in ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ as the child of the characters played by Deol and Patel.
Planning to go on floors soon, the plot of ‘Gadar 2’ is kept a secret. The original film was based on the tragic love story between British Indian Army World War II veteran Buta Singh and a young Muslim woman named Zainab against the backdrop of Partition. The partition-set drama, written by Shaktimaan and directed by Sharma, follows the story of Tara Singh (Deol), a Sikh, who falls in love with Sakina (Patel), a Pakistani Muslim girl.
The original film received an overwhelming response when it released on June 15, 2001.
Earlier, Deol on Thursday shared a teaser poster which had the numbers ‘2’ and ‘The Katha Continues’ written on it, indicating that the new film is a follow-up to ‘Gadar’.
