Further relaxation in restrictions on Kovid in Delhi; Gym will open with 50% capacity, weddings can have 50 guests

New Delhi: As the national capital recorded less than 100 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the Delhi government on Saturday decided to further relax the restrictions imposed in the city.

Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued new guidelines for Phase 5 of Unlock in Delhi.

As per the announcement, gymnasiums and yoga institutes are now allowed to operate in the national capital, but with 50 per cent capacity. The authorities have also increased the number of guests allowed during the wedding ceremony.

As per the new guidelines, marriage halls, banquet halls and hotels have also been allowed to hold marriage ceremonies with a maximum of 50 guests.

However, the number of people allowed to attend marriage ceremonies held at home or in court still remains 20.

The DDMA also said that owners of banquet halls, marriage halls and hotels will be responsible for ensuring COVID-19-appropriate behavior such as wearing of face masks and ensuring strict compliance of social distancing.

“If any violation is found, strict penal/criminal action will be taken against the owner of the premises as well as the person and the premises will be sealed immediately,” the DDMA warned.

Gymnasiums and yoga institutes in the city will be allowed to open with up to 50 per cent capacity, and the owners of these facilities will be responsible for ensuring compliance with COVID-appropriate behavior on the premises.

“If any violation is found, strict penal/criminal action will be taken against the owner of the gymnasium and yoga institute as well as the person and the premises will be sealed immediately,” it said.

The above relaxation will be applicable from Monday (June 28). The DDMA also said in its order that the restricted and prohibited activities will continue till 5 am on July 5.

The Delhi government has already allowed bars and pubs to operate in the city from noon to 10 pm and restaurant hours have been extended by two hours from June 20.

Even salons were allowed to reopen in the national capital from June 14.
