Further delay in rollout of Kovid vaccine ‘Sputnik V’ in Delhi-NCR. Gurgaon News – Times of India

New Delhi: The rollout of Russian COVID-19 vaccine ‘Sputnik V’ is again being delayed in various private hospitals in the Delhi-NCR region, officials said on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Apollo Hospitals said, “We do not have clarity on the vaccine roll-out dates.
Indraprastha Apollo had earlier said here that it would temporarily start administering the two-dose vaccine by June 25.
An official at Madhukar Rainbow Children’s Hospital said the facility has not even received a dose of Sputnik V from Dr Reddy’s Laboratories in Hyderabad, which is the marketing partner for the vaccine in the country.
“There is a delay on the part of the suppliers. They have not shared any specific reason for this. I think it could be related to simultaneous supply of both the doses,” he added.
Sputnik V uses two different viruses that cause the common cold (adenovirus) in humans. The two doses given at an interval of 21 days are separate and not interchangeable.
Fortis Healthcare, which said it would make Sputnik V available at its Gurugram and Mohali hospitals, has also not started giving people the Russian vaccine yet.
The Center has fixed the price of the vaccine at Rs 1,145 per dose. For private COVID-19 vaccination centers (CVCs), the maximum price of Covishield has been fixed at Rs 780 per dose, while that of Covaxin at Rs 1,410 per dose.
Russia’s Gamleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology has developed the vaccine Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) is marketing it globally.
Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has been importing shots from Russia. With time, the vaccine is also going to be manufactured in India.
According to Gamleya and the RDIF, Sputnik V has demonstrated an efficacy rate of 92 percent.
