The resolutions were adopted at a one-day conference of the Central Region of the NC covering Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan here.
The party alleged that Jammu and Kashmir has been “downgraded and downsized by bifurcating it into two union territories, which disrupts the social fabric, integrity and overall culture of the erstwhile state.”
“The three regions of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir had distinct languages ​​and cultures, which were being shared and enjoyed equally and peacefully by the people of the three regions,” the NC said.
It insisted on a resolution calling for restoration of full statehood with Articles 370 and 35-A, which was in the “larger interest” of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The party said its objective is unity, integrity, peace, progress and communal harmony for the people.
“It is also necessary for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to protect the jobs and land of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, which is possible only with the restoration of the status quo before August 5, 2019,” the resolution said.
Another resolution called for restoring the 149-year-old tradition of ‘Darbar Move’, under which the government worked for six months each from Srinagar and Jammu. The practice was abolished by the administration under the Lieutenant Governor last year.
“About 8,000-9,000 employees working in the civil secretariats headquartered in Jammu and Srinagar used to shift from one headquarters to another. This was a unique practice that allowed people in the two regions to share their cultural, secular fabric. and socialism too.
“This move gave a boost to economic activities in both the capitals. Ending this practice will not only break the communal harmony, brotherhood and strong ties between Dogra, Kashmiri and Ladakhi culture, but commercial activities have also come to a standstill,” the resolution read. .
Another resolution demanding a special package for the tourism industry was passed by the NC. The party had promised that if voted to power, it would redress the grievances of the tourism industry and explore more tourist destinations in Jammu as well as Kashmir regions.
“As the farming community is fighting to get the law passed for MSP, the National Conference supports their just and genuine demand,” the resolution legal guarantee of the MSP said.
Along with this, they also demanded compensation to the farmers for the damage caused to the crops due to hailstorm and torrential rains.
He said, “Farmers are being harassed by snatching their land under cultivation and they are being forced to adopt the path of agitation. Claiming that the unemployment rate in Jammu and Kashmir is an “all-time high” of 22.2 per cent and the highest among all union territories and states, the party demanded adequate employment opportunities for the youth.
“The government should review its employment policy and include all those who are on the verge of ageing,” the resolution said.
