From Hotel Waiter to IAS Officer: Jaya Ganesh’s Story Is Nothing Less Than A Bollywood Movie

A small village located near northern Amber in Tamil Nadu is where Jaya Ganesh grew up and completed his early education. Being the eldest of four siblings, Jaya Ganesh displayed remarkable intelligence from a young age. He passed his 12th class examination with an impressive 91% marks and got admission in Thanthai Periyar Institute of Technology, where he studied mechanical engineering.

After completing her engineering degree, Jaya Ganesh got a job in a company where she got a monthly salary of Rs. However, he felt dissatisfied with his job, realizing that such a low salary would not be enough to support his family. This inspired him to think about preparing for civil services. He started studying diligently and gave the exam.

Jaya Ganesh attempted UPSC exam about six times but failed. Sometimes he could not pass the prelims and sometimes he lagged behind in the final stage. Failures on many occasions discouraged him. To support himself financially, he started working as a hotel waiter and dedicated every available moment to his studies with utmost sincerity.

During this, Jaya Ganesh also took the Intelligence Bureau exam and passed it successfully. However, he was faced with a tough choice: whether to join the job or attempt the civil services exam for the seventh time. Eventually, he decided not to give up on his dream of becoming an IAS officer and left the Intelligence Bureau job.

In her seventh attempt, Jaya Ganesh finally cracked the UPSC exam. He secured 156th rank, which is a testimony to his hard work and determination. Her persistence paid off and her story serves as an inspiration to young individuals, showing that success can be achieved with self-belief.
