From Eternal to Spider-Man No Way Home, Marvel Studios Ready for Multiple Releases

With 24 movies and four hit series, The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to be the subject of excitement and intrigue for its huge fan-base. The first three stages of the MCU lead to the Infinity Saga, where we see the Avengers fighting Thanos and his mass-genocide plan. In Step 4, we saw the result of Avengers: Endgame. In the first series of WandaVision, we saw Wanda Maximoff coping with the loss of her partner, The Vision. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier see Sam Wilson taking over as Captain America. Loki, on the other hand, established the multiverse for the MCU. Phase 4’s first film was Black Widow, the final appearance of Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff. While it is yet to be released in India, the rest of the world neatly watched his journey in the MCU.

Recently, Marvel Studios released its first animated series What If…? The show gave fans their first taste of a fully functional multiverse. We saw different versions of the stories we’ve seen since 2008. In the first episode, we saw Peggy Carter become the super-soldier Captain Carter instead of Steve Rogers. In the second episode, which was the late actor Chadwick Boseman’s final performance, we see the universe in which T’Challa is kidnapped by Yondu and the Ravages and becomes Star Lord instead of Black Panther.

The series, which consists of nine episodes, will end on October 6. However, fans need not worry as this is the start of a packed schedule for the Marvel release. Marvel Studios will release Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on September 3, a film that will introduce Asian superheroes for the first time in the MCU. The titular character will be played by Simu Liu, best known for appearing in Kim’s feature, fighting against the evil forces in his own family. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings may be the origin story of a new superhero, but according to some of the characters that appear in the trailer, the film will definitely have a deeper connection with the rest of the MCU. In addition, it is reported that audiences at the premiere of Shang Chi in the United States reacted very strongly to the scene after the credits of the film. It will be really interesting to see what Marvel has in store for fans of the movie.

Then we have The Eternal, a film that is already making noise because of its star-studded cast. Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kit Harington, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden and many other notable actors will star as celestial beings that have existed on Earth for hundreds of years. We will see him fight with the ladies, and understand why he didn’t intervene during the biggest events of the world, the film is slated to release on November 5, 2021.

In addition to the big-budget action films, Marvel Studios will also release the Hawkeye series, which will take a closer look at the life of Clint Barton. While there has been no reveal about the series, we do know that it will set Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop as a young avenger. The show is set to premiere on November 24 on Disney+ Hotstar.

As per the latest reports, the final release of 2021 will be Spider-Man: No Way Home. In fact, on Monday, after the trailer of the film was allegedly leaked, it started trending on social media. The third Spider-Man film has fans excited as it will venture directly into the multiverse, and may also star Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield. The James Watts directorial will also connect directly to Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness.

There are a few more releases in Phase 4, including Miss Marvel, Doctor Strange 2 and Thor: Love and Thunder. However, it is still an exciting time for Marvel fans as they will continue to receive new content one after the other.
