Sources say a political resolution at the BJP’s national executive will also set the agenda for the leaders for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, while an economic resolution will compare India’s development under Narendra Modi with that of the Manmohan Singh era.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to take several resolutions at its national executive program on January 16-17, including a resolution on a nine-year term. Narendra Modi government and one on India’s G20 chairmanship this year.

According to sources, a political resolution in the convention will mention the upcoming assembly elections along with the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“It is about preparing for the upcoming elections. What did the party do in those states and how effective were we as a party in power or opposition there. Elections in J&K could be held in April-May or even in October-November… whatever suits the government,’ said a source.

The top brass of the leadership will also prepare an agenda for state and community leaders in view of the upcoming elections.

The economic resolution at the BJP’s national executive is expected to take an in-depth look at how the Indian economy fared in comparison to the West. There is also a possibility of comparison between the economic era of the Manmohan Singh government and the current Narendra Modi government.

“The Manmohan Singh government saw inflation rising to 8.4%, while the average inflation under the Modi government was 4.9%. From 20.3% in April-June 2020 to 7.2% in July-September 2022, the unemployment rate has seen a substantial decline, the source said, quoting Union minister Ashwini Vaishnav’s comments.

The economic resolution may also mention how Rs 19-20 lakh crore was invested per quarter in 2022 compared to an average of Rs 15 lakh crore in the pre-Covid years.

According to sources, a resolution can also be brought on the nine years of the Modi government and the steps taken to improve the lives of the poor. This will serve as a guide for all the leaders who will be tasked with conveying the numbers to the voters, the source said.

Modi government set to host G20 summit in India’s presidential year, BJP will also play a role in the showdown India for the world. Sources said a proposal has been prepared at the G20 to inform the leaders about the mammoth exercise of hosting international politicians and diplomats and giving them a glimpse of India’s rich culture and heritage.
