Fresh protests erupted in Howrah on Saturday morning over a BJP leader’s remarks on Prophet Muhammad. Section 144 was imposed in Uluberia sub division of Howrah after yesterday’s protests. Prohibitory orders have been imposed till June 15 in the light of disturbances at national highways and railway stations in the area.
A Bharatiya Janata Party office in Howrah’s Uluberia area was ransacked and torched allegedly by protesters on Friday, June 10. A BJP leader tweeted a video of the party office being torched, demanding action against the perpetrators.
