Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz has reached the third round of the 2022 French Open. On Wednesday, May 25, the teenager defeated his countryman Albert Ramos Vinolas 1-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (2-7), 6-4 at the Simone-Matthews Court.

Alcaraz entered the tournament in fine form, beating the legendary Rafael Nadal and current world No. 1 Novak Djokovic. In fact, during the Madrid Open earlier this month, Alcaraz became the only teenager to beat 13-time French Open champion Nadal on clay. Thereafter, he defeated Djokovic and Alexander Zverev in succession.

Against Vinolas, Alcaraz was in all sorts of trouble. After winning the opening set, he lost the next two sets. His opponent put him on the mat in the third set as well and got a match point once. However, Alkaraz somehow managed to maintain his composure and came before Trump.

Earlier, Alcaraz won the Rio Open and Madrid Open to give an account of his scintillating skills. Earlier, Nadal also praised the Young Turks for their exceptional performance against the big guns of the tennis world.

Djokovic goes home

Earlier in the day, world No. 1 Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic defeated Alex Molkan in straight sets. The 35-year-old admitted that defeating Molcan was not easy because of the windy weather. Interestingly, Molcon’s current coach is Djokovic’s long-time former coach.

In another match, Olympic champion Alexander Zverev defeated Sebastian Baez of Argentina in a thrilling five-setter at Philippe-Chatier. The 21-year-old also received praise from Zverev for his exciting brand of tennis.
