Fourth seed and 2021 runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas advanced to the last 16 of the French Open with a 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 win over Sweden’s 95th-ranked Mikel Yammer on Saturday.

This was the fourth meeting between the two players and Tsitsipas is now leading the face-off record 3-0. They last met this year at the Australian Open, in which Tsitsipas won the game 6-2, 6-4, 6-3. He will face either Holger Rune or Hugo Gaston.

12th seed Hubert Herkás entered the fourth round for the first time with an impressive 7-5, 6-2, 6-1 win over David Goffin.

“There are a lot of good rallies from my side. We have a history, playing mics to juniors. We played with each other a lot,” Tsitsipas said on the court, adding that he enjoyed the sunny and dry conditions on Saturday.

“It was a good game for me. I think I played really well and topped out with some good, patient tennis.”

Tsitsipas made great use of his forehand to pin Yammer behind the baseline and broke his opponent’s serve twice in each of the first two sets and three times in the third.

Yammer, ranked 95th in the world, did not help his objective by making 26 unforced errors during the one hour and 32 minute contest.

Tsitsipas will face either Denmark’s Holger Rune or local player Hugo Gaston for a place in the quarter-finals.
