Every family in Punjab will get 300 units of free electricity every month from today. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has formally implemented it. However, in this the conditions fixed by the government will have to be followed.
Electricity bill is generated in Punjab after 2 months. In such a situation, 600 units of free electricity will be available in one bill. If in 2 months the consumption of electricity is more than one unit than 600 units, then the full bill will have to be paid. The government claims that this will benefit 73 lakh families of Punjab.
During the Punjab Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party had given the first guarantee of free electricity.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said that the previous government used to make promises at the time of elections. Which used to take 5 whole years to complete. But our government has started a new tradition in the history of Punjab. Today we are going to fulfill another guarantee made with Punjabis. From today every family will get 300 units of free electricity every month.
These conditions for free electricity
- General category will get 600 units of free electricity in 2 months. If one unit is more then the full bill will have to be paid.
- 600 units will be completely free for SC category up to 1 kW connection. If he spends more then he will have to pay the bill for the same additional unit.
- SC category having more than 1 kW connection will have to pay the full bill if the expenditure exceeds 600 units.
- If income tax is paid and more than 600 units of electricity is spent, then the entire bill will have to be paid.
Will do what is said: Power Minister
Power Minister Harbhajan Singh said that the first guarantee of the Aam Aadmi Party has been fulfilled. He will do what is said. From today, every family in Punjab will get 300 units of free electricity every month.
Electricity free in Punjab after Delhi: Raghav Chadha
Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said that today is a historic day. Punjab has become the second state after Delhi, where electricity will be available free of cost. Arvind Kejriwal’s first guarantee to Punjabis was fulfilled today.
Jail Minister Bains thanked CM and Kejriwal
Jail Minister Harjot Bains congratulated Punjab. He said that from today every house has started getting 300 units of electricity free of cost. He thanked CM Bhagwant Mann and party chief Arvind Kejriwal.
