Four youths arrested for murder of ex-convict in Coimbatore bomb blast case Coimbatore News – Times of India

coimbatore: city police have arrested four youths On Tuesday in connection with the murder of former convict M Sait alias Sait Bakrideen in the 1998 Coimbatore serial blasts case. Sait was murdered on the charge of goat theft. Police said two others are involved the killing were absconding.
Those arrested have been identified as 28-year-old S Abudhakir, his younger brother S Mohammad Ali, 23, his friend A Mohammad Najeef, 24 and A Mohammad Ansar, 24. All are residents of Nanjundapuram Iteri near Kurichi in the city. These are all labourers.
The arrested people told Podanur They were closely following Sait Bakrideen after stealing a goat from Abudhakir’s house on Monday morning, police said. Sait kept the goat at a mutton stall. They approached Sait and questioned him for stealing the goat. However, he threatened them with a knife.
Abudhakir’s father Suleiman brought the police to the mutton stall. Satish was under the influence of alcohol. The police asked him to go to his house and later directed him to come to the police station.
When Sait left, six men followed him and attacked him with iron rods and logs.
Later, Sait was found unconscious with grievous injuries. He was taken to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). Podanur police have registered a case under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. When Sait died, the police changed the case to IPC section 302 (murder).
Podanur police inspector A Natesan and the team arrested the four youths on Tuesday afternoon.
Sait had served 11 years in prison after being convicted in the bomb blast case.
