Four of UP’s ATM fraudsters caught Surat News – Times of India

Surat: City Police has arrested four persons, all natives of Uttar Pradesh (UP), involved in debit card fraud from Pandesara area of ​​the city. The accused used to steal the debit cards of the victims on the pretext of helping them withdraw money from ATMs.
The police arrested Taufeeq Khan alias Babbu Mustakim (29), Riyaz Khan (32), Habib Sheikh (50) and Mohammad Irfan Khan (35). Many cases of targeting ATM users are registered against the accused in Pandesara police station.
Police have recovered five mobile phones, 19 debit cards, Rs 15,000 and a car from the accused. Cases have been registered against the accused in different states including UP and Maharashtra.
Police said the accused used to offer help to ATM users or even started chatting with them while transacting. On getting the PIN, the accused stole his debit card by diverting his attention. Also they used to replace the debit card with the duplicate card. Later they stole cash from the victim’s bank account.
On August 21, businessman Vishwanath Mishra had gone to deposit cash at an ATM in Pandesara, when the accused saw his PIN. Later, he diverted Mishra’s attention and changed his card. The accused spent Rs 71,428 from the card before the complainant blocked the card.
